Teaching Kids About Their Constitutional Rights

Brian E. McMath

On January 26, 2017, Sheehan & Sheehan’s associate, Brian McMath was invited to Volcano Vista High School in Albuquerque to teach students about their constitutional rights as part of the school’s Government class curriculum.

Mr. McMath’s curriculum focuses on student’s rights under the 4th, 5th, and 6th amendments, and addresses frequently-asked questions about traffic stops, checkpoints, searches and seizures, warrant requirements, and more.

A firm believer in the importance of understanding one’s rights, Mr. McMath began teaching constitutional literacy to high school students in 2013, as part of the UNM School of Law’s Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy program.
