Meet our New Associate, Eleanor C. Werenko

Eleanor C. Werenko

Q. What is your position with Sheehan & Sheehan?
A. Associate.

Q. What area of law do you practice?
A. Transactional, business, commercial law.

Q. What inspired you to go into law?
A. A career that would require (and allow) constant change and lifelong learning.

Q. Who are some of the clients you’ve worked with (think high profile)?
A. Lafarge North America, Inc., BayWa r.e., TKO Advertising, Automotive Test Solutions, Inc., and Upleaf LLC

Q. What’s your education?
A. B.A. Spanish Language and Literature, Minor French 2001 Magna Cum Laude; Universidad de Granada – University Curriculum 1997-1998; UNM School of Law 2008 graduate

Q. Are you from New Mexico?
A. Yes. Some of my mother’s family have called New Mexico home for hundreds of years. My father’s family migrated here a generation after immigrating from Poland and the Ukraine.

Q. If so, why did you choose to stay and build your career here?
A. While I am from here—I still made an active choice to stay here and build a career. Both before and during my undergraduate studies I traveled extensively throughout Asia, northern Africa and Europe and while I have a list of places around the world that I love, the colors over the high desert after a rain are among my favorites sights in the world—And an amazing family that have all chosen to stay—well that helps too.

Q. How do you give back to the community?
A. I am a firm believer that one of the best ways I can give back to my community is by raising good citizens. I spend as much time as I can shepherding my children and their classmates in the classroom and in the world.

Q. Do you have any hidden talents?
A. I can’t jump – at all – no really. I am often asked to perform as a hilarious non-jumping side show.

Q. What actor/actress would play you in a movie about the Sheehan & Sheehan P.A. firm?
A. Cate Blanchett

Q. What’s your favorite spot in New Mexico? Could be a restaurant, historic site, town etc.
A. There are many, but I do have a soft spot for the Frontier.

Q. What are your hobbies?
A. Cycling, reading dark Russian novels, sewing (I’ll take on anything—my sister-in-law’s wedding dress—sure, no problem), running, hiking, enjoying as much outdoor air as I can, and last but not least cooking and eating with my family.
